Now that our social calendars are filled to the brim from now until the end of the year, it can be overwhelming to keep track of every event – let alone what you plan on wearing to each. With company work events, family reunions, and outings with your friends, it might seem like a lot of occasions that you need to prep and get ready for. Which, ultimately, brings us to the question of where to shop for outfits for these upcoming events. Personally, there are some instances where I would spend a bit more to ensure I am getting something of good quality and some other areas where I think it is okay to go the more inexpensive route. So for today’s holiday post, I wanted to discuss where I think you should splurge and save on festive looks.
Where to Splurge and Save on Festive Looks
Splurge: Company Party Outfit
For a holiday work party, I envision a more formal version of everyday office attire. Think a nice pantsuit set with a pair of heels and some minimal jewelry. It is totally worth spending a little bit more on a company party outfit because chances are you can wear these pieces again to future meetings and presentations.
Save: Family Reunion Dress
For family holiday parties, it is ideal to find an outfit that falls right in between casual and formal. An easy solution? An affordable dress that is equal parts trendy and comfortable. ASOS is a really great destination to find the latest styles at a price that will not break the bank. Every style is at your disposal. From cozy sweater dresses to dresses with fun floral prints.
Splurge: Formal Christmas Dinner
Is a fancy Christmas dinner on your calendar and you are not quite sure what to wear? For formal events, I tend to lean towards splurging since it will be a special event where you really want to put your best foot forward! Shopping designer will allow you to find a more unique dress so you can stand out during your dinner party. For romantic vibes, I always love a good Reformation piece.
Save: Festive Sweater Potluck Party
Tis the season for ugly sweater parties! This is certainly an are where you might want to save rather than splurge since there are not too many opportunities to wear a seasonal sweater. For an easy festive sweater potluck party, pair your most seasonal knit wear with some loose jeans, boots, and you are ready to celebrate!
Splurge: NYE Party Dress
Just like the aforementioned formal Christmas dinner, it might behoove you to splurge a bit to go big for a killer New Year’s Eve dress that will make it a night to remember. As always, Revolve is one of my go-to resources for all things social party attire. If investing a bit more money, I would definitely opt for a dress that you could wear again for a different event down the road! So perhaps not anything so NYE specific.
Save: Sequined NYE Outfit
On the other hand, there is something so iconic about sequins and beads on the last night of the year! There are so many affordable NYE dresses and outfits that would make such a statement. However, if you do not typically incorporate sequins into your daily routine (but more power to you if you do), then maybe this is another are where it is a good idea to save! Shop festive and affordable sequined pieces below for your NYE look.
