Going Out Dresses
Gear up to dress formally again in 2022 as the first of the resort wear trends I want to cover is all about going out dresses. Anything body-hugging and flattering that you can wear out at night. After nightlife was subsequently taken away from us for a year or so, we are collectively wearing less and going out more as Drake eloquently put it. The key to achieve a killer going out look is to find flashy and eye-catching details that will allow you to standout in a crowd. This extends to items like sequins, fringe detailing, and saturated colors.
Colorful Suiting
If you want to ditch the going out dress for something a little more refined and polished, you may be interested in colorful suiting. The idea is simple. It takes the trend and true timeless blazer and trouser look that we all know and love but dips these pieces in colors that are fit for resort wear. Eclectic oranges, zesty yellows, and bright purples all work to reimagine tailored pieces as we know it, making this one one of the chic resort wear trends that you have to try out this season.
Elevated Comfort
Contrary to the aforementioned resort wear trends, there is also something in store for those who prefer to keep it more casual and comfortable. Elevated comfort is another style that is currently trending and will likely continue to until the close of the season. Another way to describe this is athleisure or pieces that prioritize comfort while still remaining put together. Think biker shorts styled with a structured handbag or ribbed knit sets that could easily be worn at home and out.
Exposed Midriffs
Resort wear trends are all about getting more relaxed and playful. This season, expect to see a lot of mid-riff baring tops utilized in both casual and formal settings. Cropped halter tops, mini tank tops, and bra tops are just a few of these items that you an incorporate into your warm weather wardrobe. If you are worried about exposing too much skin, simply pair any of these tops with bottoms that are high-waisted. Shop some exposed midriff tops below.
Dreamy Neutrals
Amongst all of the resort wear trends, you already know I have affinity for dreamy neutrals. Soft beiges, fresh whites, and chocolate browns are my weakness anytime of the year but there is no denying they are extra ethereal when worn in a tropical location. Elevated neutrals will be further emphasized for vacation wear so you should add everything from a flowy white dress to natural colored handbag to your spring and summer must-haves. To get you started, a listed a few of my current favorites below!
