Academia
The academia aesthetic is further broken into two different categories – light and dark. However, both are built on the foundation that knowledge is power and education should always be prioritized. In terms of fashion, this translates into a preppy style that involves the heavy use of blazers, pleated skirts, loafers, and sweater vests. As you can probably guess, light academia focuses on ecrus, beiges, and whites, whereas dark academia uses blacks, greys, and dark browns. Personally, I think this is a fun TikTok aesthetic trend to pull certain pieces from to incorporate within my own wardrobe.

Twee
Upon doing my internet research, the Twee TikTok aesthetic symbol is often Zoey Deschanel as she is often known for her bright, eclectic sense of style in both real life and within both her personal life and her role in New Girl. Twee stems from a British term that is loosely translate into dainty and cute. I have also seen this aesthetic being described as a more adult version of nerdy. There are also a lot of vintage inspired pieces within this aesthetic, especially from the 1980s.

Balletcore
You do not need to be a professional dancer to partake in this TikTok aesthetic trend. Balletcore fashion is all about embracing your most feminine sense of style. Key pieces within this sense of style are wrap tops, shrugs, cozy knits, and anything with tulle. I think this style is rather sweet and delicate, which kind of fits in as we move into the spring season. One of the best things about this look though is that it comes off polished, but very much prioritizes comfort – which is definitely something I can get behind.

That Girl Style
Perhaps the TiKTok aesthetic that I see popularized on Instagram the most is the That Girl Style. But who and what is exactly “That Girl”? This is exactly what I wanted to know so I set out to explore TikTok so my questions could be answered. It is essentially this all encompassing aesthetic that focuses on girls who prioritize being healthy and dressing minimally. That Girl wears clean cut yoga gear when dashing to and from the gym, a blazer/tee/denim combo when socializing, and a matching knit sets when lounging at home.

Cottagecore
This is one of my favorites to arise from all these TikTok aesthetic looks. Cottagecore is all about embracing the idyllic side of country life. It is all about running barefoot through a field of wild flowers. Prairie dresses, puff sleeves, and minimal makeup are all things that fit with this trend. If anything, now is the perfect time to embrace this style since it coincides with the care-free, warm weather. I cannot wait to channel the cottagecore aesthetic when I wear loose, flowy cotton dresses and fun, flirt milkmaid tops.

Soft Girl
This TiKTok aesthetic coincides with the Y2K trend that has been going on lately. The soft girl look emphasizes all things cutest and girly with a focus on paunchy colors such as baby pink, purple, and blue. Some core symbols within this aesthetic are butterflies, oversized floral prints, and pastels galore. There are so many ways you can embrace the soft girl aesthetic within your own wardrobe. Shop for items like mini skirts, lettuce hemline shirts, and mom jeans.
