As much as we look to the latest trends to spice up our everyday wardrobe, there is no denying how enticing a timeless wardrobe is. Just the idea that you can deep dive into your closet and pull out items that will never go out of style is a phenomenon that is incredibly alluring (at least to me). This is why I always strive to strike a balance between items that are in the moment, as well as pieces that are infallible. When it comes to the latter, what better collection of people to turn to for guidance than the Parisians. For years, the people in Paris have been known for their superior sense of style and minimalistic dressing, so I wanted to seek their wisdom and expertise to source inspiration for my 2022 summer wardrobe. Trench Coat
A simple trench coat is practically a right of passage for everyone in Paris and an absolute must have outerwear piece for those who are merely looking to embody their timeless sense of style. When it comes to the warmer months, just your most basic version is enough to carry you from now and into fall season. This is a coat that you can throw oner just about anything too – from skirts to dresses to jeans and more.
Cotton Summer Dress
One of the summer staples that I, personally, have been a big fan of are cotton dresses. Firstly, cotton is a great material to wear when the temperatures are at an all time high because it is a natural material, which makes it incredibly breathable. To ensure you are opting for dresses that will have the Parisian stamp of approval, be sure to look for more minimal silhouettes that are not so reliant on an ephemeral trend that has the potential to die out after a few months.
Slip Skirt
When in doubt, a slip skirt is always a good when wanting to put together a fool proof outfit formula. I love how incredibly polished this style is but it can easily be dressed up or down depending on how you choose to style it. Wear a silk slip skirt with a corset and some heels for an easy night out look. Or you can choose to opt for something more casual by styling your favorite slip skirt with a simple tank top and sneakers or slides. After all, we love a piece with versatility!
Trouser Shorts
In the fall and winter, a pair of loose trousers is a must have pair of bottoms that can be worn for a multitude of different occasions. However, when it comes to the warmer weather, the alternative that proves to be just as chic are trouser shorts. These tailored bottoms provide the best of both worlds. They are inherently more elevated, while still providing that air of casualness that makes them perfect for everyday wear.
Straw Bag
In terms of accessories, one of the Parisian summer staples that first comes to mind is the straw bag. This has been a favorite amongst Paris tastemakers for years now and I firmly believe it will stand the test of time. It screams summertime and this natural handbag has a lot of leg too. It works just as well with poolside looks to workwear basics to relaxed denim. I highly recommend shopping straw bags that are a bit higher quality. The natural material should be sturdy and reinforced so it can last multiple years.
