After experiencing the madness that is fashion month, I finally felt confident enough to share my pre-flight and mid-flight travel skincare routine. Let’s just say I traveled from LA to NYC to Milan to Paris, all in one go so you can say that I have been on my fair share of flights. Whether flying for just a few hours or spending half the day mid-air, paying extra attention to your skincare is crucial. The air in the cabin is notoriously drying and the last thing you want is flaky, patchy skin as soon as you touchdown for vacation. So if you have travel tickets booked for the near future (or are just looking for moisture-rich products), you are definitely going to want to take notes. Without further ado, tap into my travel skincare routine below.
Pre-Flight and Mid-Flight Travel Skincare Routine
Pre-Flight
1) Glow Recipe Avocado Ceramide Moisture Barrier Cleanser
Do yourself a favor and get your hands on this cleanser for Glow Recipe. The hydrating, skin-barrier ingredients will help to protect your skin from the travels ahead.
2) Dr. Jart Ceramidin Skin Barrier Serum Toner
Again, this barrier-protecting formula is the perfect addition to your travel skincare routine. This toner primes and preps your skin for the following products.
3) Skinfix Barrier+ Triple Lipid + Collagen + Niacinamide Serum
This activating serum visibly plumps and revitalizes the skin in one hour. Not convinced? Just take a peek at the 4.8 star reviews it has on Sephora!
4) Inkey List Caffeine Eye Cream
An early morning rise to catch a red eye can definitely take a toll on your skin. This eye cream acts as an espresso shot to wake up the most stubborn of eye bags.
I will rave about this lip sleeping mask until the end of time! Travel skincare aside, I religious apply this to my lips every single night before bed.
Mid-Flight
1) Dr. Dennis Gross Vitamin C Lactic Biocellulose Brightening Mask
Perhaps this is overkill if you have a short trip but if you are spending 5+ hours on a plane, then definitely consider ramping up your travel skincare routine. Nothing feels more refreshing than a mid-flight sheet mask.
2) Peter Thomas Roth FIRMx Collagen Hydra-Gel Patches
Follow up with these ultra-hydrating eye patches from PTR. As mentioned, the air in the plane cabin is incredibly drying for your skin so protecting the most delicate part of your face is a must.
3) Welly Face Saver Clear Spot Bandages
Why do breakouts happen at the worst times? If you are flying with a pimple or blemish, merely pop one of these bandages on and it might even dissipate by the time you land.
4) The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid + B5 Hydrating Serum
If anything, I highly recommend injecting some hyaluronic acid into your travel skincare routine. This ingredient works to draw water from the air and seal it into the skin, thus ensuring you maintain hydration all throughout the flight.
Lastly, this misting spray is perfect for a little refresh. Just spray your face when needed and you’ll be set to have glowy, healthy skin for the rest of your vacation.
Bonus: Travel Skincare Minis
As a bonus, here are some honorable skincare mentions! Best part? They are all in mini bottles, perfect for packing in your carry-on.
