Pieces that Every Minimalist Capsule Wardrobe Needs Part II

In case you missed it, I discussed all things minimalist capsule wardrobe and how you can go about starting the process within your own wardrobe. For those who are not familiar with the term, a capsule wardrobe is merely a collection of essential, interchangeable clothing that is timeless while also pandering to your own sense of style. In Part I of this mini blog series, I shared some ideas of what I would include in my own minimalist capsule wardrobe including tops, bottoms and dresses.

Today, I wanted to further delve into the subject and provide my two cents on the ideal jackets, accessories and footwear to complete your own capsule wardrobe. Keep scrolling to reveal my selections!

Jackets for a Minimalist Capsule Wardrobe

A capsule wardrobe is all about layering so jackets are essential in expanding the usability of the other pieces within your collection. Because of this, I ensure the outerwear I select is on the neutral side so it can seamlessly coordinate with most other items I already own. One of the most critical jackets is the blazer. This is such a versatile item that can instantly elevate the most basic of outfits, including tees and tanks for a chic off-duty model look. I prefer blazers with an oversized fit as it leans more casual and it makes layering much easier.

As far as true outerwear to protect you from the elements outside, a trench coat is such an iconic piece that frankly, will never really go out of style. This item is the perfect transitioning piece to take you from day to night when it shifts to the cooler evening temperatures. Plus, it can be styled with both casual and more formal looks.

Essential Minimal Accessories

In addition to the clothing included within your minimalist capsule wardrobe, accessories are just as imperative in rounding out your assortment. For me, the first thing that comes to mind is an all purpose handbag such as a tote. This silhouette is very much timeless and quite easy to throw on with almost any look! Large totes bags are a good catch-all for days when you are on-the-go and need to bring along everything from your wallet to your laptop! Also, having a smaller option is ideal for those quick outings.

The other items I utilize on a daily basis are sunglasses. No matter what time of year, I constantly need a pair on hand for when I am out. A neutral frame (black, tortoiseshell, etc) is key once again for ensuring you can indeed wear it with anything. On top of that, minimal jewelry pieces to further elevate your looks is essential. Earrings such as high-quality hoops or studs give that pop of shine without taking away from the outfit too much – but feel free to also add stackable rings and simple chain necklaces.

Minimalist Capsule Wardrobe Footwear Accompaniments

To finish off what I would consider an ideal minimalist capsule wardrobe, let’s talk footwear! To me, the holy trinity of required footwear are sneakers, flats and heels. Starting with sneakers, a standard, white pair will carry you a long way. They can be worn to the gym or styled with more casual looks no matter what time of year.

On the other hand, one must always need dressier options for the office or any other formal event. A classic pair of ballet flats to act as a semi-dressy, yet comfortable option will be handy to keep within your capsule wardrobe. Then, a collective of neutral heels are my last recommendation to round everything out. In this department, kitten or stiletto heels are equally as efficient. You could also throw in some strappy sandals to the mix too!

This concludes my recommendations on curating a versatile, yet stylish minimalist capsule wardrobe. I promise that narrowing down your wardrobe to be more digestible and concise will save you from so much stress going forward.
