Modest Thanksgiving Dresses to Wear to Dinner

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I urge you to start thinking about what you plan on wearing to your festivities! Trust me – I know that this year is going by in a blink of an eye, so you might even be in denial that Thanksgiving is just a stone throw away. I can totally relate 100%. But this is me telling you that you need to act now because the holiday is going to be upon us before you know it and you need to factor in some cushion time if you plan on ordering anything via the web! If you plan on getting together with your family, you might want to stick with something on the demure side, but still true to your sense of style, of course. I decided to visit some of my favorite online fashion resources to pull together what I think would make for lovely, yet modest dresses to wear to Thanksgiving dinner. Happy shopping!

Modest Thanksgiving Dresses to Wear to Dinner

Cozy Sweater Dresses

Above all, the goal for my Thanksgiving outfit is to choose something comfortable. When it comes to a holiday that revolves around eating so many scrumptious dishes, I want to shop Thanksgiving dresses that are cozy enough to wear all day long. The first that comes to my mind are sweater dresses. They are amazing to wrap up when it is chilly and something you could happily wear all day long. This modest turtleneck option is so cute!  I love the textured balloon sleeves detailing. Also, I spotted one of my favorite cutout tops adapted as a chic sweater dress from Paige. The asymmetrical shoulder is a fun way to bring some contemporary trend into your modest Thanksgiving look!

Thanksgiving Dresses with Midi-Lengths

Another way to keep your look conservative but still incredibly stylish is to search for dresses with a midi-length. The longer hemline helps to keep your outfit more polished. If you prefer a more minimal approach to style, this pleated midi dress is so timeless and effortlessly plays into the elevated knitwear trend. When shopping for Thanksgiving dresses, I also recommend paying close attention to color! Neutrals will never let you down but you could also stick to a more autumnal color palette such as warm ochre or deep jewel tones such as this stunning teal midi dress.

Chic Tunic Dresses

You might even be questioning to yourself what exactly defines a tunic dress. Simply put, this is a dress that is a slip-on dress that is gathered at the waist and billows outwards. It typically falls to just around knee-length. This style of dress is a great choice for Thanksgiving because first of all – it is incredibly comfortable! No need to worry about a food baby here. Also, tunic dresses have a naturally sweet, feminine silhouette, making it ideal for family gatherings. For a little bit of drama, I love this puff-sleeved mini dress from Anthropologie. The corset bodice is subtle but adds a really nice elevated detail to the piece. For a more toned down version, check out this velvet option.

Timeless Thanksgiving Slip Dresses

When in doubt, I will always suggest a slip dress for just about any occasion. You guys know that I tend to prioritize styles that are sophisticated and timeless – which is everything that defines a slip dress. I am currently swooning over this ASTR the Label rust colored slip dress as it is the perfect fall color and totally relevant to wear for the upcoming holiday. Of course, patterned variations are just as chic as solid! This gold animal printed slip dress fun, festive and could definitely be worn for a future Christmas party too.
