No matter what time of the year it is, jeans are omnipresent within my outfit rotation. Amongst all of the wardrobe staples that exist, I strongly believe that denim has the most versatility. With the ability to wear them with almost anything, it is hard not to be reliant on them for a wide variety of outfit combinations. That being said, I can name numerous ways to casually style my jeans on any given day but it can be tricky to dress them up for the right occasion! Inherently, they come off more relaxed and laid-back, so finding the right combination to wear them formally requires a little more effort. But fear not, I am sharing my best kept tips on how I prefer to dress up my own jeans in the winter. You won’t want to miss out on these style tips!
How to Dress Up Your Jeans This Winter
Add a Tailored Blazer
It seems that a tailored blazer almost always solves any fashion dilemma. In this case, it is just as effective if you are seeking to dress up your jeans this winter. A blazer is so incredibly useful for this purpose because inherently, it is a more formal piece. But over the years, this outerwear item has become such an integral part of everyday wear that it no longer feels stuffy. It has evolved to become the perfect balance between relaxed and dressy, making it a great option to enhance any pair of jeans. For even more pizzaz, try opting for a patterned one like this.
Sweater and Leather
Obviously, these days skinny jeans are a thing of the past. In their stead, looser fitting jeans are the most sought after. Personally, I am hoping this trend stays for a long time! While I do love form-fitting bottoms, there is just no denying that relaxed jeans are more comfortable. To further elevate your go-to pair, try adding a mix of knit and leather to add some edginess to your look. In this case, a leather moto jacket is sure to do the trick.
Faux-Fur Jacket Moment
If you really want a glam denim look, introduce a faux-fur jacket into your outfit formula. A fur moment is sure to turn heads, even when wearing with a pair of jeans. Plus, it looks more luxe than your average winter jacket and is ideal for tackling almost any holiday party or social gathering with style. This winter, I have been loving the notion of chocolate brown and black mixed together. This outfit is an easy way to incorporate both.
Vest Dressed
The love and adoration for sweater vests has yet to die down. It is making me wonder if these sleeveless tops will be just as important as cardigans and turtlenecks for the next few years. For a polished take on the sweater vest movement, I discovered this oversized one from COS. I absolutely love the way it layers over a form-fitting long sleeve. Just add a pair of kitten heels and et violá, you have a perfectly chic winter outfit that managed to dress up your jeans.
Statement Boots
Another killer way to dress up your jeans is by adding a statement boot. This year, the Schutz Maryana boots have been my go-to. The curved top and subtle croc-embossing is incredibly elegant. All you need to do is tuck a pair of jeans inside the calf for a completely new, transformative winter outfit. I finished off this look with a chic bodysuit and a sherpa-lined jacket. Can’t get more chic than this!
