Together we can make the world a better place, even if it’s just a little bit at a time…

Happy World Animal Day! I am really happy that I get to share one of my biggest passions with you today! That is of course my love for animals. So, a little background on how this passion started… Growing up, like most kids, I have always had a special place in my heart for animals. My love started off by just appreciating my pet hamsters who were named Isis and Nibbles- they were super cute. I still miss them to this day. As I got older, my mother really took a liking to raise lots of different animals. We happened to have a really big plot of land -which was very convenient for my mother to hone in on one of her biggest hobbies… raising lots of animals (chickens, turkeys, goats etc).

It was such a privilege to grow up in a big city and still feel very in touch with nature every single day – it is something that I cherish until this day. I spent lots of time with those animals after school and on weekends until it just became a natural part of my day/ life. So since then, I have always had such a special place in my heart for animals. They are all so smart and have such specific personalities- we are so lucky to have animals of all kinds in this world, hence why I think it is so important to do our part to keep them alive, happy and thriving.

In honor of World Animal Day, I would love to share some ways that you can celebrate wildlife. Here are my top 3 ways…

  1. Donate to organizations that support wildlife. When you visit your local accredited zoos and nature reserves, you can pay the recommended entry fee. Your donations help maintain these vital conservation areas. Or you can do a simple Google search to find organizations in your area to donate to that support wildlife welfare.
  2. Spend time helping out animals or volunteering. Or just simply spend time with your pet and make them feel extra special. If you don’t have money to give, donate your time. Many organizations and zoos have volunteer programs. You can help clean beaches, rescue wild animals or teach visitors.
  3. Educate yourself on ways to help protect the environment we all share together. Focus on less waste, pollution and environmental harm in order make the world a better place. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Make environmentally sound decisions most of the time or whenever possible. Using reusable shopping bags, being an educated consumer, gravitating towards clean beauty and products that do not include animal testing in their production etc – are all ways to make a difference/ impact overtime.
