Cozy Up With These Fall Home Decor Finds

Now that Labor Day is behind us and the kids are back to school, fall is officially in the air. I absolutely love everything that this season manages to bring. The shift to cooler weather (which we undoubtedly need after this record-high summer) and the idea that the holiday season is just around the corner always brings me immense joy. So along with fall fashion trends, the other thing I always do as we transition to autumn is to make my home feel more seasonally appropriate too. After all, we are more than likely bound to spend more time in the comfort of our own home after such a rigorous summer social season. I pulled together some of my favorite, must-have home items to help make your space feel ready to tackle fall with gusto. So grab your coffee, curl up in a blanket, and settle down on your sofa so we can dive into these fall home decor finds together.

Throw Blankets

When the temperatures start to dip, what is the first thing you want to reach for in your home? A throw blanket, of course! I usually like to divide these into two categories – throws that are function versus throws that are purely decorative. Because after all, who is really cozying up with an acrylic, chunky knit throw? No one. Although, decorative throws are great for adding an accent, I am a girl who loves practicality. These throw blankets are both stylish and warm at the same time. My personal favorite being the faux-fur throw from Pottery Barn.

Autumnal Wall Art

Admittedly, this swap is a little more complicated than just switching out some florals. However, if you are truly looking for maximum impact, you might want to consider swapping out your wall art. Trust me – your walls have a major impact on the overall look and feel of your space. This does not need to directly translate to depictions of trees with changing colored leaves. It could be as simple as a darker modern graphic to help set the mood.

Fall Florals & Vases

One of my best kept secrets for helping any room to feel more seasonally relevant is to switch out your florals and decorative vases. Let’s face it, how is your bedroom going to get you in the mood for hot cocoa and scary movies when you have pastel colored tulips on your dresser? Instead, it is time to swap them for darker flowers and moodier vases to fit the vibe a lot better. This is also where you can throw in things such as pampas grass if you want a little bit more texture.

Pumpkins Galore

All of the above fall home decor suggestions might be more subtle nods to the season but how about something more literal? Of course, I am talking about the pumpkin, of course. There is something about this symbol that just gets us in the mood for all of our favorite fall festivities. And don’t worry – no kitschy pumpkins here. There are a variety of pumpkin figurines and decor additives that are incredibly chic so you don’t have to ruin your day-to-day decor either.

Scented Candles

Finally, let’s not forget the power of aromatherapy. I will be the first to admit that I am totally that girl who almost always has a candle burning whenever I am home.  There is something so calming and incredibly comforting when your safe space not only looks and feels its best – but smells its best too! As a type A person, I love to coordinate my candle scents with the season so you know I am already stockpiling a multitude of pumpkin, apple cider, and bonfire inspired candles. Help yourself and shop some of favorite autumnal scents below.
