This is our first post of 2020 and this year!! I have decided to be a lot more candid and honest, while sharing knowledge and far more interesting thoughts. New decade- new me? Not really… more like, new decade so I will show the more honest version of myself.
One thing I haven’t ever shared enough is the fact that I am an avid reader. I got through books and books per month. Sometimes reading actual hardcover or paperback books, sometimes skimming books on my Kindle app or sometimes relaxing in the sauna or driving listening to inspiring words. So saying all of this, I have decided to share one of the things I am so passionate about and it is self-care. I do not care what industry you work in, whether or not you love social media- taking care of yourself mentally, physically, emotionally is so important. Why? Because if you do not love yourself enough to provide proper care, then who will want to do that for you?
Here I want to share the 5 best tips that I have gathered from successful entrepreneurs:
1.Create time for YOU: This is so important! I can stress this time and time again. In a world where everything moves so fast, where everyone wants ALL things right now- it is very easy to get caught up in the fast moving whirlpool of craze. A helpful tip is to actually pencil in a time slot in your daily schedule- try 30 mins to an hour. During this time, do something that you enjoy that is not related to work in any way. One of my favorite things to do is watch some of my fave YouTube channels, online shop or plan my next shopping haul, schedule my next monthly beauty appointments, read about health and nutrition, watch a thriller etc. Literally, just do LITERALLY anything that you like & makes you feel amazing.
2. Improve DAILY lifestyle: This one is HUGE and a major thing that everyone needs to incorporate into their lives. If you take time to listen or read routines of successful entrepreneurs- they usually mention that they have routines in place. My current routine involves sleeping 8 hours per night, exercising, drinking adequate amounts of water and eating nutritious foods. I schedule in these tasks accordingly and practice them until they become part of my life. I find that when I do these basic things, it have the motivation, drive and endurance to ace other aspects of my life. I read that Richard Branson and Mark Cuban work out every single day and have mentioned that this accountability is part of what makes them successful.

3. Just say NO: This is my possibly my favorite tip on this list. I am for sure very empathetic and want to make people happy. It is both a blessing and a curse. The latter has taught me uncountable lessons over the course of my life. One of them is that, I should NOT be saying yes to everything. When I was saying “yes” to everything, I would often feel overwhelmed, stressed and felt like I was constantly giving my time and power away. Time is the one asset you can NEVER get back. So now, I constantly consider carefully before saying “yes”. Very difficult at first but oh so beneficial in the end.
4. Get a hobby & actually ENJOY it: Probably not the best idea to pretend you want to be this amazingly skilled yogi or pretend you want to be an rock climber. This is the time to own whatever thing you like to do and incorporate it daily or weekly. Think of what you’ve loved doing ever since you were a kid or the thing that you love but put off right now. Then do it! I am currently learning the piano and make time for it.
5. LIVE in the moment: When you have so much on your plate, it is very easy to lose focus of the things that you are doing actively from moment to moment. So often times, you start doing things on auto-pilot. You eat meals because you have to- not enjoying the flavor or the nutrition to your body. Or, you achieve something great and instead of truly celebrating it and reveling in the joy- you barely acknowledge it and keep on going with your day. I implore you to take the time to live in the moment. If you are watching television- put everything away and enjoy the television show. If you are spending time with loved ones, be in the moment and enjoy it. YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE- enjoy the journey! Guided meditation helps to practice being in the moment more. Mindfulness helps so much in. Oprah Winfrey once said, “Meditation is about getting still enough to know the difference between the voice and you. It’s a heightened state of being that lets whatever you’re doing be your best life, from moment to astonishing moment.”
These are of course my opinions on what I have read. What are some of your favorite tips?
