Out with the old and in with the new… The start of September means that I am officially shifting my mindset to the new season ahead. As we bid adieu to the last of summer’s sunshine, the allure of autumnal dressing comes into play. Along with the exciting fashion trends, there comes an opportunity to revamp your current shoe rotation. Much like the clothing, the footwear seems to share a common thread – more is more. It seems fashion is embracing statement pieces in every way possible. From sculptural wedges akin to art to dominating thigh-high boots, fall 2023 shoe trends are proving to be anything but subdued. I am ecstatic to take on the styling challenge and you should be, too! There is so much newness to get ahead of, starting with these rising shoe styles.
5 Fall 2023 Shoe Trends I Am Loving
Starting off on a slightly controversial note is the updated clog. This style is inherently divisive and you either find yourself head-over-heels for it or absolutely no care for it at all. While there will still be a major focus on 70s inspired clogs complete with studded soles and cognac colored leather, these shoes will also be shifting to a more modern aesthetic. From metallic iterations to clog style boots, if you weren’t a fan of this style before, these new takes might just change your mind.
I am a huge fan of combat boots for this time of the year as I find they add a chic edgy vibe to any outfit. However, there is a new chunky boot in town that is sure to be omnipresent as soon as the cold weather creeps in. Bulky biker boots are a direct transcendence from the moto trend that blossomed last year. The added buckle hardware and structured silhouette are perfect for pairing with sweaters, dresses and more.
Lo and behold, the wedge shoe. Love them or hate them but wedges are coming back this season in a major way. They are ideal for the gals who love the idea of wearing heels but hate actually having to commit to tottering around in them all day. There’s so much range in store, too. From sculptural wedges to streamline booties, there’s just about something for everyone with this fall 2023 shoe trend.
There’s a new silhouette in town. Swap your rounded toe shoes for something with a bit more edge. Pointed toe styles, whether they be ballet flats or kitten heels, are proving to be larger than life. You can’t deny that they have a much more high-fashion appeal to them than the average shoe. This sleek style is perfect for dressing up your everyday outfits.
Lastly, this round up of fall 2023 shoe trends would not be complete without some show-stopping boots. This year, we aren’t playing around as fashion tastemakers are predicting the slouchy thigh-high boot to be #1. It may not be for the faint of heart as this shoe style literally takes up the majority of your leg. However, fashion purveyors are expected to actually wear these in lieu of pants.
